A busy and at times very wet weekend!

Tuesday, 9 June 2009

Well done to everyone who turned out over the weekend either with your efforts in the Drill Team or to those of you who helped out at the Mayors Civic Service. The next stage of the Drill competition is set to be on the 22nd April which gives a little bit more practice time!

Thankfully the weather for gliding on Saturday held out and GIC 2 & 3s were successfully obtained.

Saturday, 30 May 2009

1st June is BTEC Registration Day!

Are you 16 or are you going to be by the end of the year? If so you should be thinking about registering for your BTEC First National Diploma? Its FREE for your to register and on completion is equivalent to 4 EXTRA GSCE level qualifications (A*-C) grade. It will also look great on any application to University, the RAF or on your CV! A past Principal of St Hild & St Bede, Durham University said about the award run by the Cadet Vocational Qualification Office (CVQO):

'CVQO has selected qualifications with curriculum that focuses on communication, leadership and teamwork; these are all important skills that universities look for in potential students. With requirements ranging from sports to interviewing skills, this qualification is impressive to both universities and employers alike.'

Visit http://www.cvqo.org/ and have a look around. As soon as the registration forms are available you can ask for one at the Sqn or otherwise download it from the website and, when complete, hand it in to the Training Officer (TO). You also need to print out a record book and workbook from here: http://tiny.cc/NOKVT. Chat to your parents or teachers to see if they could print you a copy.
